106 Veteran Goes a Ton-Up!
Syd Geater our veteran 106 aircrew, reaches the grand-old age of 100 on the 23rd of April. First of all, we all wish Syd a very happy birthday and reunion with his family. Syd served with 106 at Metheringham completing his tour of Ops here. When I asked him the somewhat simplistic question of, “What was it like?” He replied that, “We sailed through without much of a problem”. Much of this would be down to luck, but it does reflect on the skill, team work and professionalism of Syd and his crew and why we should honour them and all the others of Bomber Command; members our Greatest Generation. It’s so apt that his birthday falls on St. George’s Day. Pro Libertate and God bless Syd! |
